The 2012 Vegetarian Expo will be held on Sunday Sept 30th

The Vegetarian Expo has been held annually since 2007 to celebrate World Vegetarian Day (October 1st) and World Animal Day (October 4th). It is usually held on the last Sunday in September from 10-4.30pm at the Horticultural Centre, Riccarton Ave, Christchurch. It is New Zealand's biggest vegetarian event with 4000+ people attending each year. Visit www.vegetarianexpo.org.nz to find out what will be happening at New Zealand's biggest vegetarian event. 

Even in its first year, in 2007, 2,000 people attended the Vegetarian Expo at the Shirley Intermediate School hall. 4,000 people attended Christchurch's second and Vegetarian Food and Lifestyle Expo at its new home, the Horticultural Centre in Hagley Park, in 2008 and since then the Expo has attracted between 4,000 and 5,000 attendees each year, even in 2010, directly after the first major Canterbury earthquake. 

Stalls, cookery demonstrations, films and workshops provide education and information and a great day out for both Christchurch vegetarians and non vegetarians alike. A big crowd pleaser is the vegan sausage sizzle. Christchurch's premier vegetarian cafes and restaurants delight the crowds with cuisine from their menus. Food on offer includes Chinese, international, raw food, classic New Zealand favourites and ever popular vegan ice creams. Outside the hall, patrons can bask in the Christchurch sun and children can enjoy the bouncy castle. St John's ambulance makes sure everyone is looked after medically.

Please contact us for a registration application form if you interested in having a stall promoting your business or group at the Christchurch Vegetarian Expo. The criteria for inclusion for the Vegetarian Expo is that your business is either run on vegetarian principles, is vegetarian operated and does not conflict with vegetarian principles, or promotes items (such as food) of interest to vegetarians and vegans. If you are not vegetarian but your business fits within the criteria, we expect that no meat would be brought on site on the day and that you bring no materials promoting a non -vegetarian diet. We also ask that your stall is staffed at all times as we are not be able to safeguard your goods or respond to enquiries about your stall if you leave the site. Charges for the Expo will be set by the committee of the Christchurch Vegetarian Centre and are always very reasonable.
