Christchurch’s Vegetarian Food and Lifestyle Expo 2007

2000 attended Christchurch's first and New Zealand's biggest Vegetarian Food and Lifestyle Expo at the Shirley Intermediate School hall on September 30th 2007. Vegetarian Cabinet Minister Ruth Dyson opened the event in glorious sunshine. 30 stalls, 5 cookery demonstrations, 10 films and 5 workshops provided education and information.  Food on offer ranged from vegan ice creams and fudge to hot meals. But the biggest crowd pleaser was the sausage sizzle. 448 vegetarian sausages, some gluten free, were served with fried onions, ketchup and bread. These were sold out within a few hours.
