Oak Tree Review

Oak Tree Cafe

Well, what a pleasant surprise. A place you feel at home in as soon as you walk though the door. Music is playing in the background which gives a soft ambience to the room. There are pictures on the wall – which can be purchased – and a rack full of magazines and newspapers that can be perused whilst awaiting your order.  The staff were very welcoming and friendly and were not put off by a thicko like me walking in and not knowing what I was doing. The menu had 3 vegan options of a thai soup, lentil patties and fruit salad. I chose the potato and mushroom pie which was veggie due to the butter in the pastry. When it arrived it was very nicely presented with an interesting arrangement of salad on the side.  The drinks menu is extensive and I can’t imagine anyone walking out thirsty. The food prices started at $4.50 up to $7.50 and the drinks started at $3. All in all a very nice experience that could become a habit if one lived in the vicinity.

I am so impressed with this café! I used to live in New Brighton and was a frequent customer but unfortunately moved out of Christchurch for a year and now that I am back have rediscovered the amazing food and wonderful friendly service.
I live across town now but anytime I am even remotely in the area I always pop in. Never have I had a bad meal there all the food is so full of flavour. I am neither a vegan or a vegetarian but this is by far the place to eat in Christchurch.
The atmosphere is amazing inside, so warm and welcoming. A must try for anyone who likes amazing food and great service.
